Hah, maybe I can get involved in paneling again. Just sent a proposal to a local women in science undergrad group to set up a panel of female PhD students talking about grad school and how to apply to it. Tomorrow I’ll send a similar proposal (without the gender spin) to another science undergrad group, probably.
And the best part is that it totally counts as actual work I might get paid for and not just pure fun because I can list it as a broader effects credit on my grant proposal! :D Wins all round. Seriously, I am excited to maybe set something like this going. I… uh, skipped something similar when I was an undergrad (but only because I had asked for particular advice about grad school from three of the four panelists personally), but I always thought it was a great idea and it will be something that is genuinely fun to do. With any luck it will pan out!
